Col William O. Darby

The guy the place was named for. William O. Darby was a career United States Army officer who fought in World War II, where he was killed in action in Italy. He was posthumously promoted to brigadier general. Darby led the famous Darby’s Rangers, which evolved into the United States Army Rangers.

  2. I was the Company Clerk of the 793rd MP Bn from 71 to 73. Trained as an MP but the day I arrived they needed a Clerk and I could type so I was picked for on the job training. By the time I left I was Radar O Reilly ….. only taller.
