  1. I live in Wackernheim and I loved the times in the summer (in the 80s) when the soldiers ran through the town singing (early morning exercise with a boss who shouted or sang something and the company then answered together…😀). Or when the tanks drove down Ober-Olmer Strasse. That was very exciting for us kids. Now the barracks are almost empty…

    1. Cool to hear your memories as s kid living nearby! I always wondered what German children thought about US military.

  2. I was there from 86-89, A 1/59 Stinger team. Sgt Johnson, Gully, another Gulley, 1SG Seaberry!, CPT Hill, Ackerman, Farmerie, Hazelton, levine, langloss, Elersick with the 944 porsche, lombardi, Sgt Menz, alfred, woods, mcnight, edwards, mascheck, tate, all my crazy brothers. cold as hell, guard duty, the field, endless alerts, I was there when we turned in our jeeps for humvees, live fires at Crete, Reforger, hohenfels, baumholder pldc, Lloret de Mar spain trip, man, we’d come straight from la bastille to PT, lol, before they came up with a PT uniform. Good times, lot of memories, didn’t realize until later that was the real army. Went back to the world to fly helos.

  3. My (then) husband, SGT John Fabing, was stationed at McCully Barracks from 1992-1995, with the 5/3 ADA, I believe. My brother, Jesse Salazar, was stationed with him, as were Kent Viles and Randy Wright. It would be interesting to see if anyone else from that time posts but I have always remembered that the four of them were friends.

  4. I was in HHB 1/59 and ran the Bn Aid Station from 83-85. Hard assignment. Lots of long, long hours, but loved the area.
