THEY ARE ALL OVER GERMANY. SOME OF THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD FROM FAMILY OWNED GASTHÄUSER.
Definition of gasthaus: a German inn or tavern
A Gasthaus (also called Gasthof, Landhaus, or Pension) is a German-style inn or tavern with a bar, a restaurant, banquet facilities and hotel rooms for rent.
Gasthäuser are typically found in smaller towns and are often family-owned. It is common for three generations of a family to work together in such an establishment, and many have been owned by the same family for generations.
WILL BE ADDING MORE PHOTOS LATER.

Fliegerhorst in Hanau had a Kantine circa ’85-’88 that had the best Gulaschsuppe I had anywhere in Germany,And I drove all over in my work as an American civilian defense attorney in courts-martial and chapter actions.BTW, Wienerschnitzel is always Kalb or veal as we know it. Schnitzel Wiener Art is pork cooked Vienna/Wiener style.
On a recent trip to Germany, I managed to acquire a “Moy Bier” beer glass. This took me back to my Flak Kaserne (Augsburg) days in 1973/74. There was a gasthaus not far from the main gate that a lot of us solders frequented. I didn’t know the name of the gasthaus then, nor do I know it now. There was a “Moy Bier” sign outside. We just referred to the establishment as “Moy Bier”. “Hey you guys, let’s go over to Moy Bier and grab a wiener schnitzel”.
The local breweries that were unavailable more than ten miles from the Brauerei made the best beer in Germany,
And the farther south and east you went the better the beer got.
While at Storck Barracks (1970-72) my co-workers and I would frequent the “Green Tree” (Gruner Baum”) gasthaus in Bad Windsheim for foosball, schnitzel, and bratwurst. On week ends sometimes going to to two or three other gasthauses within walking distance. The green Tree was located on Seegasse, and now appears to be remodeled and part of a hardware store that was next door. Many great memories of that place.
Best food ever from a gasthaus. Snitzel, curry worst. Brats, cordon blue pome frits and of course a big beer

Ya moms in swabach was always the first stop and if u came back early enough it was your last to. It had been open and serving soldiers from Obrien barracks since the end of WW2.. AMAZINGLY it’s still open just a different clientele. Man I miss those days 1983 was a good year along with 84 85 86 87 88 89 all spent in Germany. I wish I could live them over
Thanks, I remember them from my days in Frankfurt, stationed at the 97th General Hospital.
When were you in FFM?
61 years ago today, on my birthdate, I had a date with an Air Force dependent chick, we had met a week or so earlier at the Plantation Club at the 97th General Hospital.
