  1. conquered these hills back in the summer of 99. Loved every minute of it. I used to carry a m60 machine gun with me at all times as my battle buddy would hump the amo.

  2. Took my basic training at Ft. Knox from April to June, 1981, and did the march on Agony, Misery, and Heartbreak; the absolute hardest thing I ever did in my life!!!

  3. I was drafted in late July 1967, did basic at Fort Knox marching those hills in the heat of August with A-17-5, with Sgt. Comer as my DS. Got to spend 9 months there are being pulled from AIT -Radio school to be a draftsman for the commanding Officer of all the training companies. Then got orders for Vietam. Got lucky again being assigned to a Army Postal Unit 56th APU at Long Binh Post. Also worke at Staff Engineers part time.

  4. Agony, Heartbreak and Misery were gut checks! What didn’t kill us made us stronger.

  5. I took basic training in Ft. Knox in 1975 June-August. Our platoon hiked all three Misery, Agony, and Heartbreak with full backpacks and our rifle’s all in one day. They live up to their names. Drill sergeant’s fed us salt pills and water from our canteen’s. We would stop occasionally and pull our boots and socks off for inspection of our feet for blisters. A medic vehicle would follow far behind for those that fell out from heat exhaustion. I made it all the way. Definitely an experience I will never forget. R. Lee

  9. I did it in Basic Training. To me it was hard as I have pes planus (flat feet) and would have to do the half of the hike on the sides of my feet. OUCH! Si la vie!
