  1. The German word for train station is Bahnhof. “Bahbhof” is incorrect.

  2. I tried to leave my name but it didn’t work. – Laroy Rushing, 3-35 Ar, 1980-82.

    1. Laroy Rushing, I was there then too. I was in C Company in 2nd Platoon as an 11E, later 19K. I still live here now just outside of the old Gate 3 near the old Brigade building (7000) and the old Recreation Center. What Company where you in and what was your MOS?

      1. I was the S3 for #-35 Armor for 18 months (80-82) when LTC Schroeder was the battalion commander, and MAJ Mountcastle was the XO. I was in Ansbach for the remainder of my tour. After retirement, I was back in Bamberg visiting a couple of times. I would have enjoyed meeting you.

      2. That’s probably why I didn’t recognize your name. I was in the line company. I remember LTC Schroeder. I remember once I and my tank crew was working up in the new track park (we had the pack pulled out with the mechanics) up across the 2ACR track park near the Rod & Gun and it was just after 1700 because we were at attention facing the flag at BDE when soon after LTC Schroeder drives up in his BMW to check on us working late. Of course it was a Friday too. It was nice to know that he cared enough to make sure we were okay and doing well. Luckily it was on a summer day so it was all good. I was a your E-5 as a Tank Commander then. The MAJ, I never really had too much contact with. For the most part I stayed away from the White-house. If you ever come back let me know and we’ll have a beer in town. I can be reached at cabralg@hotmail.com. Are you in the FB 3-35 site or the Warner Barracks site? If I didn’t tell you, I retired in 1996 in Bamberg from the military then again in 2018.

  3. I was stationed at William O Darby 1988-1990 in Furth. Met my wife of 35 years there. I’m excited to return this year for Xmas and new years. I miss it so.

  4. Very nice!!!! I love Germany. I miss those days. I go to Germany every year for 4 weeks to visit my daughter, grandson & son-in-law but this year they were here in March/April so I get a break 🙂

    1. Mike, I’m very impressed!! This is a great success story you shared. Life can be hard but a lot of times it takes just one person that can give you that helping hand. Glad you found that hand.
I was stationed in Furth from Nov 75 to Jul 78 with 501st Finance.

      1. Yes thanks as you know some parts of Johnson Barracks were not a good place to be!!! But my plan was to stay busy and out of trouble which happened!! And by doing that had a better outlook and hope for future! Now a good wife and daughter retired from IDNR was a cement finisher before IDNR. And am a Jehovah Witness!!!!????? But the Brotherhood is a very good thing. And we try to help and guide as many as possible like the Platoon Sargent did. And we help each other. Take care Mike Globis
