  1. Sorry… I was trying to correct a typo. In second reference to my outfit I accidentally typed in the wrong number. It was the 2nd Battalion 13th Infantry, or 2.13 that I meant. Not 2/14. Please pardon the two blank entries

    1. When I spent time at Coleman, it was because my HQ ran the prison there, and we did an exercise at the prison in the field just below the guard towers once. We also used to go there on Wednesdays as it was “Motivation day” for the wanna be bad guys. The ones they were trying to scare strait. It was fun to watch, and it usually worked. We also used to go inside to eat on Fridays because they had a cook there who made catfish every Friday. I also took a college course there in the fall of 92. I had a few friends over there. It was a great time. I was stationed at Taylor barracks with 42 MP Group (Customs). We reflagged as 14th MP BDE after a few month, but the mission was the same. Then we decommissioned our unit in late 93 and early 94. 18th MP Bde won the coin toss, so we went away and they took over at Taylor Barracks. I left at the end of May 94 and 14th was getting reasy to case their colors. My time in Germany was among the highlights of my military career. I lost contact with the folks I served with and my civilian friends from there. If I could change one thing, I would have been better at staying in touch with them. I met, and worked with some awsome folks over there.

  2. I was stationed at Coleman in Medic Platoon HHC 2/13th INF in 1967 and 1968. During that time we went on maneuvers in Baumholder and in Grafenwoehr and spent a lot of time in the V-Area on alerts and on duty at guard sites Lorsch and Nacom-19. About ten years ago I was contacted by someone who also served there and was trying to track down old friends from the 2/14. Since then a group of us from that time has been meeting at reunions in Branson, Missouri, every two years. We have a great time reminiscing. Until his death at age 97, our battalion commander back then, Colonel Thomas Blake and B Company 1st Sgt. Washington were part of our reunions. .

Frankie mejia from puerto rico and other guys smoked some stuff in his barracks room, CSM Webb was a runner, I ran 11 miles on the clay track and kicked off my sneakers off after the first lap because the rain made your sneakers sink n suck in the dirt. We cooked a pig in the ground behind the mess hall. Drank christmas beer and got highly drunk…after a six pack=12 pack American, i didnt drink at all before that…lol..

  6. Doing this for my dad, Ron Savary, who was station at Coleman Barracks from December 1965 then to volunteered for Vietnam a year later. Looks for anyone still around. He was station with the mechanized 3rd squadron 8 division. Specific names he hung out with was David, Morison, John, Ray and Haws – sorry no last names. I would like to learn more about the time in Germany. Dad is starting to slip with his memory and looking to fill in a few gaps.

    1. HI, My name is David Womack. I was Stationed with Ron at Coleman, The year was 1966 thru 1967.I was thinking about Ron awhile back. You said he went to Vietnam that must have happened after I left. I’m sorry to hear he is losing his memory. Note: We were in 3/8 cav.

  10. I was stationed at Taylor Barracks from May 92 thru May 94. I was at HQ 42 MP Group when I got there, but a few months later we reflagged as HQ 14th MP Brigade. We ran the prison at Coleman. I took a college course at Coleman in the fall of 92 and met two amazing women. Lori King was an Airman who worked at the weather station at Coleman. She was amazing in every way. We lost contact with each other when I had to go home on emergency leave. It was very sudden and I was gone for 45 days. When I got back, I was never able to locate her to explain why I hadn’t been around. I would love to hear from her again someday. She was a great friend, and soo much more. I’ve missed her. The other woman was the daughter of an ex soldier who got married and stayed in Germany. Her name was Lara Lambert. She was a great friend also. I never got to say a proper goodbye to either of them, or to get contact info so we could stay in touch over the years. They were both strong amazing women, and had big plans for the future. I’ve always wondered how things turned out for them. We had soo much fun together. I miss my time in Germany. I had a long and very eventful military career, but the bast part of it was the two years I spent in Mannheim Germany.

  11. I was stationed at Coleman Barracks 78/79 I was C Company 2nd Battalion 13th Infantry. I really enjoyed German. Most of my days were training and a lot of bivwack out in the field for days at a time. I would do it again especially if I was with the same unit and fellow Soldiers. Got my Honorable Discharge due to a field training injury.
