MERRELL BARRACKS NÜRNBERG GERMANY

These barracks (German: kaserne) was built for the SS Signal School and a SS Signal Reserve Unit. Soldiers from the kaserne were used to support the Nürnberg Nazi rallies. The post was captured by American soldiers in April 1945 and renamed Merrell Barracks after Private Joseph F. Merrell. It was HQ for 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment.

I was there 1980 with 116th ord.
I was there in Air Troop ’84 – ’85, after I left the 2nd Cbt Avn Bn – 2nd ACR moved from Merrell to Feucht AAF. I know the 29th Cem and 84 Eng guys lived across the quad from us. Where was the 116th Ord at Merrell? Parts of the 2nd ACR was below us as we had the 3rd and 4th floors in the corner of the quad.
Another question was Rock Haus or Green Goose, also did you ever have a Dracula drink?
