  2. Oct 1980- Non 1981, 95B B-Battery 3/71st ADA dragon Battalion. Tough tour, trucked out to Gros Sachsesenheim to guard towers and fox holes, no days off, protecting nukes. Interesting time. Kornwestheim a beautiful little town

  3. I can tell that I am the new kid on the block. I got to A 2/4 inf in 1984 (Wilkins) and survived the move down to Neu-Ulm later. In 1986 I took a quick one year tour of Ft. Campbell (2/327th) and then right back to the exact same squad in A 2/4 inf. PRP gets it hooks in you, they didnt let go, lol. Finally left on 2AUG1990 (the day Hussein invaded Kuwait), got to Frankfort and seen the news about Kuwait, tried getting on the bus to go back south and they werent having it. “Orders are orders, you’re going stateside, pal!” ETS’d with 88 days terminal leave.

  4. I was with Headquarters Battery 3rd Battalion 71st Artillery 32nd Army Air Defense Command assigned to the motor pool. I was a conscript and stationed there from August 1969 through September 1970. Many thanks to Vietnamization! It was great duty as far as duty goes in the Army! I still maintain close contact with Shelby Savoie, Ernie Betters and Mark Corwin. I have tried to locate John Sanchez, Mark McHale and George Allen without any success. We shared so many treasured memories!

  5. I was an MP- SP4 stationed at Wilkin Barracks in Kornwestheim Germany in 1964 and 1965 with Company B – 385th MP Batallion. That was great duty and we made a lot of friends, lots of memories to share.

    1. Our father was an MP in the same Company and Battalion in 57-59’. He always talked fondly of his time there.

    2. I was stationed at Wilkin Barracks, 385th MP Battalion HQ Detachment from March 1961 to July 1963. I was in the courts and boards section. My replacement was there during 1964. His name is Howard Mencher. The Company “A” commander was a great friend of mine. He was also there in 1964. His name was William Lyght(?). I couldn’t wait to get back to the land of “round door knobs “. All the doors at Wilkin Barracks had door handles. Actually I enjoyed my stay there except the “readiness tests” and the long winters.

  6. I worked and lived at Wilkins in HHC 2/4 as personnel specialist for “Charlie Co” ( who were stationed in Wharton Barracks) from July 1971 to sometime in 1972 when HARPAC was formed and I moved to Wharton.

    1. I was a medic station around 1971-1972 I think I remember U. Did U live off base with your wife? If so ,do u remember me and a big man nickname Chief going to your appt. I remember Chief rocking your little baby on his lap.

Our Co drove the 68 Shelby mustang and he also drove a half track (a motorcycle and a track) Kornwesthiem was a beautiful place. I retired from public works for the City of Tacoma,Washington in 2014(253) 224-5935 feel free to give me a call sometime. I wonder whatever happened to some of these soldiers.
