I’m Jim Keller and served in the 4th Armored Div. 16th Artillery at Pinder barracks. I arrived there in Oct. 66 and left there in May of 68. I was a clerk for SGM Darrell Clabaugh, and LTC James Compton. I later worked in B Battery as a clerk for Captain Montgomery. I loved Pinder Barracks and Zirndorf. I rember the Pizza just outside of the Gate and Bub’s place downtown. Hope to contact someone who was there at that time.
I was born and raised in Zirndorf. In 88 I met my now ex husband Brian Edwards, he was in 156 main.co. I live in kentucky, been over here 16 yrs.I miss my kleines zirndorf, my family the food and friends.I had I great time partying at the cindarella bar.Hey Helmut Hahn!Remember them good times? Turned out Brian is a douche bag, but I got two great daughters out of it.
Hey, I was at Pinder Barracks 1988-1992 then at Rose Barracks. I miss Zirndorf too. I miss all my German friends. I’m on Facebook and myspace. Sandra, I miss you the most. I also miss my buddy “Fogerty”. I wonder if he is still around? Been a long time. Take care.
I was stationed with the 511th MI at the Darby Kaserne from 1962 to 1964. We also had a civilian address which was Balbiererstrasse 17. Most of my memories from there are very happy and still very vivid. We had a great bunch of guys there and also a fine group of German civilians who were unforgettable. I still miss all of them very much. (I had dinner with Tony Niilus in Niagara Falls, NY last summer–2008. The only contact ever with my old Army buddies.) I know you are out there. Drop me a line. Bill Krause

I was FDC for C 1/94 FA from August 68 till April of 70. I have very fond memories, likely improved with time, of Darby. I hope some other old redlegs from my time are on this site. I’d especially like to know what happened to 1SGT Summers and Cpt Miller.
WOW ! I just discovered this site after all these years! I was stationed in HHC 2/81 S-3 for my first year there, 1984,I was assigned to the Air Force,ALO. They where a great bunch to work with . Then I was re-assigned to C co. 2/81 Armor. Where I meet some of the best solider’s I ever worked with in my career. Sfc. Sebeck, 1Sgt. Kilanski, Pfc.Larry Ward, Pfc. Hulverson, Pfc.Huffaker, Pfc. Stremmel, Pvt. Garcia, Pfc. Morales, Sp4.tennell and the one and only Sgt. Applegate. 86-87. The pizza bar down at the end of the strasse my main man at the pizza bar aka Mono. and the chicken man, halb henchen 5 mark. pomme frites mit cheese and mayo. und ein heffe wiezen, bitte. And the infamous Nco club, with the Long Island ice teas, and the blood alley. I Remember Graf. Tank Table VIII. shooting a 988 out of 1000. On the Xo’s tank. C-65 the caboose.
I was in Erlangen from December 1962 until December of 1964 in the 4th Armored infantry division. I drove the army personel carrier for the company comander. I was Crushed between two personel carriers in 1964 before I came back to the states. I had a broken pelvis and my back is not worth a hoot.
I also had some great times when we went to town. I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Stationed at 1-35 Armor during 1986-1988. Served as the NBC Officer assigned to HHC.
Lots of great memories for both my wife Ann Marie and I. 🙂

Anybody on here from Merrell Barracks Nürnberg??????
Been by there a few times. Was inside the front gate maybe two times to pick up supplies.
I lived at Rollner Str 43 Nürnberg, just around the corner from the Tucher Brewery. Loved the place. Lived there 4 years.

I was stationed at Merrell Barracks from 1966-1967, and was married in the chapel (the 3 windows above the main arch entrance). I started as a 13A10 and went to a 13B20, 3rd bn, 17th field arty, a 8 inch self propelled out fit. I had 2 apartments while I was there. one at the intersection of Bayreuther Str. and Lodwig Feuerbach Str, the second at Barenschanz Str #51. Sgt Tarver was the ammo sgt. We used to ride to the ASP in his old Oldsmobile. I remember a lot but not all. Must be getting old. lol
I was stationed at Merrell from Jan.1965-Aug.1966 in B battery 2nd/34th arty in FDC. Had great times in Germany everywhere we went & at the guest house by the lake. I went with the lady that had it & her name was Carrol. My name is John Alexander in Beeville,TX.
Lot of nice photos, I’ll say that for this site. Wish I had taken some while over there.
Was stationed at Ferris Barracks Erlangen Germany 1974 to 1978.

Anyone know what ever happened to SFC Bart. He was in one of these units and I don’t remember witch. 1/35 Armor or 2/37 Armor at Ferris Barracks during the 1970s.
Yeh !
I remember him. He married the woman that owned the Goldener Hecht (All the GIs called it “The Hex”) in downtown Erlangen. Seen him once when I got back to the States but have lost contact since then.
I think this is him. Looks like he has passed away.
SFC Richard S. Bart
Hello Duane Bralley; I was in ‘D’ Battery, 48th,AAA Class of 1954- 55 too. Were you a cook? I don’t recall you.
I was in the 2nd Platoon, D-21, (M-19- M42). Like you, I too was escorted out of Germany kicking and screaming, along with the rest of the 1th Division, before July 1th,1955. I think it was the Darby.
I had a bet with Arnie, that I was the last of the class.
Hello Arnie, Lisa, Shorty, Boom Boom, etal’s. Art 🙂
Dirndl:
