I was stationed from 84-86 156 Maintenance Battalion at Pinder Kaserne in Zirndorf, my favorite bar was the Green Goose. I was there just about every Friday and Saturday, if were not on Red Alert, or Grafenvoehr/Hohenfels, and 2nd bar was the Rock House in Nurnberg. I did go to Octoberfest in Munchen twice, and as many concerts as possible. Like seeing Scorpions at there High School Auditorium in Erlangen. Many good times and lots of Zirndorfers and Heffeweitzens.
i am currently in Ansbach…looking for the one I remember…I was stationed here in 87/88…I don’t remember the green goose in the picture…the one I remember…you had to go upstairs…it had a sign that said “Fuck communism” behind the bar…and the main reason I went there…is because of the mural of the SF bay bridge in the pool room…since that’s where I’m from….it became my bar…I just spoke with a local…and she said it was down by Katterbach…but I remember a different direction…if anyone remembers MY green goose…e me at leboydavid@gmail.com… I’m leaving tomorrow and would love to see it before I go…
My husband told many a story about this place when he was stationed there from 83-85. He is looking for others that may remember him, Ty McGinty. He was the skinny 17 year old that loved to dance and party there.
