WÜRZBURG ARMY HOSPITAL

WÜRZBURG, GERMANY

A large military hospital complex was built in Würzburg in 1936-37. When the U.S. Army moved into the area in April 1945, this facility was taken over by the 107th EVAC Hospital, and it continues to serve as a U.S. Army hospital today.

The US Army Hospital Wuerzburg is located high on the Galgenberg Hill overlooking the city of Würzburg, in the heart of Franconia. The hospital is a 6 story building on a landscaped park area of approximately 14 acres.

  1. My Father James William Wycoff Jr. was Born here on Aug 2nd, 1961. His mother was Mary V. Wycoff. My father passed away this past October.

  2. I worked as a civilian nurse in the hospital 1969 to 1970 and lived in the BOQs on post……happy days!!

  3. We were teenagers at the time we were stationed in Bamberg, 1959-1961. Our headquarters was Nurnburg. On May 14, 1960, I was transported to Wurzburg and on May 15, our beautiful baby boy, Keith, was born. This month, October, 2024, he returned with his wife to see the place of his birth. Thank you for the lifelong memories, and the ultimate souvenir we brought home with us!

    1. We were stationed in Bamberg and I was born in Wurzberg Army Hospital on 4/17/1959. We also went back to Germany 7 years later and were stationed in Amberg. My older bro’s and sister went to Nurnberg to high school and my other sister went to Jr High in Vilseck. I love Germany.

  4. Was stationed as nurse administrator in US Army at Wirzburg site in the 80’s – was 67th Evacuation Hospital at that time.
Most memorable thing about that military site was that it is very haunted – highly charged energy of people who have passed there.
Was told that it previously served as an SS convalescent center for Nazi troops.

    1. Pretty sure I must have been born there in 1959 when my dad was stationed there. Unfortunately I don’t know much else about it.

    1. was there a ct scanner in this hospital then? I’m filing a brain injury claim and they don’t believe there wasn’t a CT scan done. But this was in 1977. I don’t think they had one.

  5. How can I get my birth certificate? Born in 1970 when my dad was in service. Heather S

    1. It cost 50.00 and I went through US States government web sight for children born to US citizens serving in the military. Also has to be notarized after fill out the form. It will take 3 months or longer to receive. Hope this helps

    2. if you were born in the hospital at Wurzburg your birth had to be recorded with the US Embassy as well as the Army records so you may be able to get one from the State Department.

  6. I’m going to Witzburg to see this Military Hospital. Please give me the address.
    Thank you.

    1. This has not been a US Army hospital since 2007. It was converted into apartments and looks somewhat different now. Using Mariannhillstraße 2 for an address will get you there.

      1. Hi, How can a person get their medical records if they were stationed in Wurzburg in the 80s?

        1. Try:
Mail or fax a Request Pertaining to Military Records (Standard Form SF 180) to the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC).
Get Form SF 180 to download –

Write a letter to the NPRC. Send it to:

When I did this some years ago, most of my medical records were included.

    2. I was born in Wurzburg Bavaria in 1983 and have frequently tried to look up and find the hospital I was born in. I have always been interested in visiting Germany but it has been so long and the memories of a child fade and I don’t have anyone to ask
